Dear King Family and Friends,
Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! This year is going to be awesome and I hope you are as excited as I am. I love being a King Cub! This is my third year of teaching at King. I graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters of Elementary Education. Currently, I am pursuing a second Masters degree in Educational Administration. I love reading, cooking, traveling, and Netflix! Please feel free to visit our classroom at any time and see what we're up to! Below you will find my contact information that you may use at any time. This year, I will be communicating with you through Class Dojo. Please see the details below to learn more about this amazing classroom resource.

Class Dojo is a classroom resource that will allow us to communicate and strengthen our school-home relationship. Each student will have the chance to earn Dojo points for positive behaviors such as "taking initiative", "being prepared", and "respecting peers". You as parent will get a daily and weekly report about your child's positive behaviors and any behaviors for improvement. I will also share statuses, updates, reminders, and photos via our Class Story. Similar to Facebook or Instagram, you can like or comment on our photos, videos, and updates. Class Dojo is definitely the quickest and easiest way to reach me. I always have my iPad on-hand. What I love most about Class Dojo is the focus on developing positive social skills such as kindness, having a growth mindset, and being mindful.

Being a Writer
Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday. This will typically involve extra independent math practice. Additionally, students will be expected to read at least 20 minutes each night. Each week, students are given 30 spelling words to study and practice using our Speller's Choice Menu included in your child's Homework Folder. Spelling practice activities do not need to be turned in. Rather, they are an opportunity for students to practice spelling words and prepare for the 30 word test on Friday.
