Welcome to another exciting school year! My name is Clarissa Henderson and I will be your child’s 4th grade teacher at King Elementary School. I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 2013. This will be my seventh year teaching. Prior to King, I taught 4th grade at Central Park Elementary. In addition to teaching 4th grade, I have also been a classroom Para-professional for preschool and elementary school.
I was born in Great Falls, Montana, but moved to Omaha, Nebraska with my family when I was 2. I grew up and attended public schools in Omaha. In 1997, I moved to Portland, Oregon, but family in Omaha called me home in 2000. I am married and have one child who is 21 years old and starting their 4th year at UNO. In my free time, I love to sew, garden, cook, and read. I also love learning and can’t wait to pass on my passion for learning to the students!
This year we are starting our year together online. I will be using the district provided Teams and Clever to deliver most of my online teaching. I will also be using Class Dojo to reward excellent behavior that follows our 3-B’s: responsibility, respect, and kindness. Parents, there is a sign up sheet-with instructions- in your manilla back to school folder.
Our online classroom will be similar to our in-person classroom. Your child will need to log-in to Teams everyday. I will have live lessons, recorded lessons, small groups, and independent work. There will be due dates and celebrations too!
I know that this year, the school shutdown, and online teaching are not what we are used to. I will be here to support and help in anyway that I can. We are in this together! I look forward to working with your child, you, and your family to provide the best education and experience possible. Parent/teacher communication is important. If you have any questions or concerns during the school year please feel free to contact me at King Elementary.
